On Sunday, 6/1/97, 20 riders made it to the First IBMWR Texas President's Breakfast at Hillsboro, TX. The Lone Star Cafe provided a private dining room, good food at good prices and time for lingering conversation.

Howard Schultz rode 883 miles from Colorado Springs, CO and Steve Aikens 480 miles from Clovis, NM, All others came from within Texas with milages varying from 20, West, to 380, Lubbock.

As Presidents arrived, everyone enjoyed putting faces with already familiar names. Most showed up about 30 minutes early alowing time to kick tires and eye odometers as well as ooh and ahh at some new bikes and the K-1 from Lubbock.

The K-1 was ridden by Ronnie Fry of High Plains BMW who surprised us all with unexpected door prizes. Now these door prizes weren't left over medium T-shirts, but were crisp, brand new twenty dollar bills. Five of them. Nice, Ronnie. Thanks.

They went to:

Oldest rider - Ernie Reeves (is this right?)
Youngest rider - Jeff Rankin
Long distance rider - Steve Aikens
Highest odometer - David Navratil
Prettiest President - Jennifer Schwind (our only lady Prez)

Father and son presidents Steve and Jeff Rankin delayed the start of their vacation to the Rockies by one day to be able to attend the breakfast. Thanks, guys. I hope we were worth one less day in the mountains. Steve and Jeff are both science teachers and were fully packed and ready to roll. Hopefully we will get a trip report.

Pre and apres pancake photos were taken by Steve Aikens and Norm Grills so hopefully we will all get to see them.

Presidents attending were:

	Geoff Adams
	Rick Chevrie
	Steve Rankin
	Jeff Rankin
	Sonny Morgan (future Prez)
	Ken Barnett
	Ernie Reeves
	Howard Schultz
	Allen Cloutier
	Norm Grills
	Jennifer Schwind
	Steve Aikens
	Ronnie Fry
	Mike Millsap
	Hamp Williams
	Mark Crowder
	Rick Landi
	Bob Smith
	David Navratil
	Eric Navratil

As one of the infiltrators of the Texas Presidents Breakfast (your lines were surprisingly easy to cross while your guards slept <G>), I can only add that the chance to meet so many great folks, and again meet up with some old friends, was a real treat.

Also, Geoff's selection of the Lone Star was great, even though I couldn't get the busboy to wash my bike for me.

The ride over and back, with friends Howard Schultz, Mike Millsap, and Ronnie Fry simply could not have been better. Geoff's suggestion we take Hwy 4 back was perfect. Even the State Trooper waited until we turned off of 4 to start his patrol of the road (one of the only two we saw the entire ride home - at the speed limit, of course) <G>

To make things even better, Mike Millsap offered his magnificant home in Lubbock, for a soak in the hot tub and dinner, before continueing on to the border crossing. All I can say is, if you are offered this familys' hospitality, take it. Mike, his lovely bride Susan, and their family are, without a doubt, the most gracious hosts you could possibly have.

I am flattered to have been invited to their home for the evening and hope to cherish their friendship for years to come.

I look forward to seeing everyone at Fredricksburg, and especially to seeing Mark Crowders new paint job (so you better make it Mark!).

ATTENTION RICK LANDI:!!! Keep an eye on the T-Shirt you were wearing at the b'fast! If I see it without you in it - IT'S MINE <G>

On behalf of both (Harold, Henry, Horace, Horatio) Howard Schultz (you had to be there %^}) and myself, I offer Thanks to the Presidential Dignitaries in attendance, for the exceptional foriegn policy you displayed in tolerating us fern'er's. Perhaps we could, one day, offer to open our borders to you in return <G>

My Daddy always told me: "Be it big, or be it small, Do it well, or not at all." You did it well!

Thanks for a great time - It just don't get no better'n this!

I don't suffer from insanity.....I enjoy every minute of it!

Hello All,

For those of you who missed the Texas Presidents Breakfast you missed a really good meal. We even had some foreign Presidents there from places like NEW Mexico and Colorado. I guess they had a boarder pass or they were recognized as Presidents and allowed to enter. In any event glad they came and enjoyed their company. Only down side was that we only had 1 Lady President attending, will have to say she has a really pretty R1100RS though.

To those who missed. There will be others, Thanks to Geoff Adams for a great job of putting this together, and the great door prized from the High Plains BMW folks in Lubbock. If your in the area be sure and stop in to see them.
